>So... in what sense, exactly, do I belong to this land?

By virtue of your existance, you belong to the land. As Jews, we have ties to the place where we originated and to which we have created such powerfully symbolic links over the centuries. When I link to the land currently called Israel during Shabbat, I do so easily - the connection is already present. What you do with your connection is up to you. I've been reaching into the depths of the land that is Israel and that surrounds it, doing my small part to awaken it to itself as Goddess and to join *with* God - to encourage growth and flourishment and creativity and trust among neighbors.
